Rules
These are the site rules. Please read them all the was through and read them carefully to be sure that you understand. If you are caught breaking a rule, you will get a warning. If you break the rule a second time, your account will be disabled for a set amount of time based on the rule that you broke. And finally, if you continue to break the rules, it showed that you did not read them; therefore, you will be banned. NO EXCEPTIONS! If you have any questions regarding these rules, private message the Headmistress of Deputy Headmistress for more details and information.
Role Play Rules
1. While in role play (RP), you are to type in third person point of view, past tense. This means that you do NOT use words like "we" and "I". That would be first person. You also do NOT use words like "you". When you write in thid person point of you, you use subject pronouns or the proper noun. If you are having trouble understanding this format, please read the given examples. If there are any further questions, please Private Message (PM) one of the administrators (admins) on the site. Examples: DON'T: I walked towards the door and opened it. (First Person) DON'T: You walked towards the door and opened it. (Second Person) DON'T: She walks to the door and opens it. (First Person, Present Tense) DO: She walked towards the door and opened it. (Third Person, Past Tense) DO: Mary walked towards the door and opened it. {Third Person, Past Tense)
2. Also while you RP, you need to type in complete sentences and use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. If your RP posts are short with no punctuation or capitalization, it makes it harder to read. Please refrain from typing as if you are sending an Instant Message (IM). There are common typoes, but if you have several typoes in several of your posts, there is a problem. There is a spell check for your posts that you can use to be sure that you do not have severe typoes.
Quotes should be placed inside of quotation marks on each end. The mssing quotes often times can mislead people to think that your quotes are throughts and they can miss important information.
3. Also, DO NOT use things such as "lol", "g2g", "brb", or "LMAO" in your posts. You are allowed to make a small section in your post, which is called an Out of Character (OOC) section. In this section, you can post things like: I need to get off the computer. I will be on later. OR Sorry I had to get off for a second. You are allowed to use IM literature in the OOC section. Please do NOT make a post that only consists of an OOC or has one line of post and a five line OOC. No, not acceptable. Your posts CANNOT have things like the following sentence: *looks at Tom* "Hi Tom, how are you today?" You are not allowed to have the stars in actions. Instead, make it into a complete sentence rather than a fragment with stars around it. So, to make this a sentence, you could say: [i]She looked at Tom and opened her mouth to speak. "Hi, Tom, how are you today?"
4. Post length is important. To be sure that the boards stay up and do not look crappy, we are asking you to post no less than three full lines of text. These lines of text can consist of the actions of a character, descriptions, or perhaps thoughts and feelings of your character. Make your posts as long as you want and as descriptive as you want, as long as it is site appropriate.
Language and Sexual References
1. This site is a site based on Harry Potter. Yes, there are curse words and sexual references, but they have to be kept to a certain extent. We would prefer that you NOT use profanity because there are younger people in the RP audience who like to read other people's posts as well as write their own. We do not want to lose members due to the sometimes frequent and fluent cursing. Please keep it at a very small minimum or none at all.
2. Sexual references need to be kept at a minimum, a VERY SMALL minimum. If your characters are dating and they decide that they want to kiss, let them kiss. If your characters happen to be married adults that are thinking about starting a family, they may have a family, but DO NOT GO THROUGH THE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE! If they are going to end up having sexual intercourse, please put [GRAPHIC] in the topic title, but in your posts, DO NOT go into deep description without an administrator's permission.
3. If your character gets pregnant, you have to make it realistic. Do not make nine months go by in a week. That is not how it works. We have a set time schedule as to what days are what in both RP and the real world. RP time, as you may already know, moves faster than real world on some RP sites. Others it does not.
